About Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling, the incredibly popular South Korean webcomic, is receiving an anime adaptation.
For the uninitiated, Solo Leveling is set in a version of our world where superpowered 'hunters' (essentially fantasy archetypes) are dispatched to tackle hordes of monsters that have begun appearing all over the globe.
The story was originally penned by Chugong before receiving an illustrated adaptation by the late Jang Sung-rak (aka Dubu).
It might seem like a run-of-the-mill power fantasy, but impressive pacing and worldbuilding have made it an international hit. This popularity also made it an obvious candidate for an anime adaptation, but what do we know about the upcoming series?
Solo Leveling cast and crew: Who's making Solo Leveling?
Solo Leveling's anime adaptation is being produced by A-1 Pictures, who most recently produced the Nier: Automata adaptation and Mashle: Magic and Muscles. Outside of those, the studio's biggest success has been their work on the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War? franchise.
There's also some impressive talent lining up behind the show, with Shunsuke Nakashige and Noboru Kimura taking on the roles of principal director and head writer respectively. The show's score is also being created by now-legendary composer Hiroyuki Sawano - the mind behind some killer music in Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill.
The series has also announced its initial cast members, although no information about international dubs has been shared yet. The current Japanese voice cast is:
• Sung Jinwoo/Shun Mizushino - Taito Ban
• Cha Hae-In/Shizuku Kosaka - Reina Ueda
• Baek Yoonho/Taiga Shirakawa - Hiroki Touchi
• Yoo Jinho/Kenta Morohishi - Genta Nakamura
• Chōi Jong-In/Shin Mogami - Daisuke Hirakawa
• Go Gunhee/Kiyoomi Gotō - Banjou Ginga
• Woo Jinchui/Akira Inukai - Makoto Furukawa
